CHANGES TO HOW WE BOOK GOLF
The Board at their July meeting resolved to accept a recommendation from management to run a three month trial of changing the way the timesheets open. Commencing Friday September 1st, timesheets will open three days prior to the day of play, instead of eight (nine on Sundays) This trial is driven by an attempt to minimise changes to the timesheets. Presently, with the timesheets opening eight days in advance, the amount of changes to the timesheet prior to the day of play is extremely significant. What is very evident with the current arrangements (using Saturday mornings as the best example) players who book their regular four have no idea whether their actual playing partners are available or not. To put this in perspective on Saturday July 8, there were 128 slots available in the AM, which all were taken within six minutes of the timesheet opening and also had 10 members on the wait list at that time. However, come the day of play, there were 73 changes to the timesheet, albeit the weather forecast was a bit scratchy. On Saturday 22 July, there were 128 slots available in the AM, which all got taken quickly when the timesheet opened. Come the day of play, there had been 48 changes to the timesheet. It was a stunning day weather wise. We are of the opinion that if we open the timesheets closer to the day of play, members will be much more organised and their playing partner availability will be confirmed. Sure there will be times when a last minute issue pops up and a player has to cancel, as that can happen to all of us. However, we want those responsible for making the booking to ensure their playing partners are available when they make their booking three days prior during the trial. Over the three month trial we will track the changes to the timesheets from when they open through to the day of play. On face value, there should be minimal changes. That will result in more genuine bookings being made and should in theory result in more members getting on the timesheet initially, rather than having to grapple with the uncertainty of going on to the wait list. It’s important to note that should there be patterns of members continually booking a group and then withdrawing players before the day of play, they will face sanctions. Ultimately it’s all about respect to fellow members. The timesheets will open as follows: …and so on for the three month trial. We look forward to members supporting this trial and getting their groups organised before making a booking. |
